Flag of Cost Rica 2012 was first adopted in 1906. On 21 October 1964 however a small change was made to the national weapon: the number of stars was increased from six to seven. Through this minor upgrade to the weapon of the Cost Rica service flag and Costa Rica war flag also changed.
Costa Rica is the only one of the members of the former United States of Central America that not kept the blue-white-blue from the flag of the former United States of Central America.

Cost Rica Flag Revised 1848-1906. The coat of arms of Cost Rica Flag was also revised in 1848 and placed in
the center of the flag. In 1906, when the coat of arms was modified,
the update was placed in a white disk on the flag's red stripe, and later
on an oval, set toward the hoist.
The coat of arms depicts the isthmus between the Pacific ocean and the Caribbean Sea, with 3 volcanoes. The 7 stars stand for the 7 provinces of Costa Rica. The Spanish name of the country is placed on a white banner, Republica de Costa Rica (Republic of Costa Rica), and the Central American union is recognized in the blue upper scroll, recalling the former United Provinces of Central America.

Cost Rica Flag Renewed independence. Meanwhile, Cost Rica declared itself independent in 1838, so the seal of the federation often was left in the flag. In February 1841, the United States of Central America officially dissolved, during which time Costa Rica had been recognized as an independent state.

Costa Rica Flag United States of Central America. The flag with the red star was not long in use: 4 March 1824 Costa Rica adopted a new flag, being the flag of the United States of Central America. Costa Rica as matter of fact was now part of the United States of Central America. Cost Rica Flag Independence Struggle
Independence Struggle Costa Rica. Costa Rica took his first flag in use in 1821. This consisted of three horizontal stripes in the colors blue, yellow and blue. The blue represents the oceans, the yellow for the 'golden' America. The flag was in September 1821 in use by the opponents joining the First Mexican Empire and remained in use until May 1822. Between 10 May and 6 June 182 this flag was also used. On the later date, Cost Rica was independent of the Mexican Empire, which it officially belonged to since 1821. In obtaining the independence a new flag was adopted, which showed a red five-pointed star on a white field.

Cost Rica Flag Design.The flag has an aspect ratio of 3:5. The red track takes a third of the height of the flag, each of the blue and white jobs occupies a sixth of the height. The five jobs relate to each other so as 1:1:2:1:1 .
